‘&’ (ampersand)

The English once took it to be an alphabet.
The Chinese affectionately term it ‘the little mouse’.
The Dutch call it an ‘elephant’s trunk’,
The Germans ‘a spider monkey’,
The Italians as ‘a snail’.

 It is ‘&’ (ampersand).
