Heart, we will forget him,
You and I, tonight!
You must forget the warmth he gave,
I will forget the light.


When you have done pray tell me,
Then I, my thoughts, will dim.
Haste! 'lest while you're lagging
I may remember him!

★ Emily Dickinson is considered one of the greatest American poets of the nineteenth century.

★ She was born in 1830 and died in 1886.

★ She published less than a dozen poems during her lifetime, none of which carried her name.

★ However, after her death, her sister found a cache of over 1,700 poems .
