A South American artist creates underwater artwork.
During his childhood, much of which was spent in Malaysia's coral reefs, artist Jason deCaires Taylor developed a profound fascination with the sea and the rest of the natural world. As an adult, Taylor has now chosen to incorporate this love of nature into his artwork. Jason carves cement sculptures that also function as artificial coral reefs deep below the ocean.
The surrounding natural beauty serves to enhance the artistic quality of his work and allows for a unique viewing experience that requires the use of scuba gear. Jason's work facilitates positive interactions between humans and fragile underwater ecosystems and helps to further people's awareness and appreciation for the splendor of the ocean floor.
